Offset printing is considered the grandfather of all printing processes. They may be old, but the offset printing process stood the test of time and today brings quality printing at a very affordable price. However, offset printing relies heavily on mechanical processes such as production of plates, so bulk orders of prints must have their materials to be profitable.

Printing overcame this short with the development of various technologies – namely digital printing. This time, computers play a major role in our way of life. And it has more the efficiency of some appliances and features. Improvements extend to other things, to extend the actual print.

Digital printing uses the aid of computer processing and printing to produce without the use of plates and other mechanical processes like film stripping and color separation. Therefore a wider range of printing options available to humans and there is more freedom over how they want prints done.

To help you decide whether you want your material in offset or digital, here are the advantages and disadvantages of using digital printing print:

1. Digital printing method is clearly more expensive than offset printing, when it comes to short run printing. Bulk orders, however, offset printing is still king. As I said earlier, by means of a digital printing process requires no mechanical processes, which add to production costs. Used digital printing directly to the printer technology, which enables them to print your materials in the short term and very profitable prices down. However data are required for a large number of prints such as contracts in bulk and you have a quick turnaround on your printing, offset printing should be your choice.

2. Both printing technologies offer a full process color printing. However, if you plan to print in the short term offset is still the best option you can have. Both technologies four color printing yellow, cyan, magenta and black in different shades to produce. The only difference is that the offset process “sealing” the colors in the substrate using the ink rollers and plate. Digital printers, ink is sprayed only on the top of the substrate.

3. Processes in emergency situations and if you want to print is done in the Rush process, then you should definitely choose digital printing. Offset printing requires much pre-press and set up processes that go through the time, but inevitable. Digital printing can be from any mechanical processes, and use your material in print very fast turn arounds.

4. Prints and digital printing still in their infancy and many design options not available through digital means. Printing processes such as embossing, printing, folding and special user processes are stapling, which can not be done through digital means – yet. Just wait technological progress in this service when you print to digital.
